The Jiangsu Department of Transportation has recently issued an action plan of developing intelligent transportation to make the sector digital, connected and intelligent.

The plan has laid out Jiangsu’s construction process and development targets by 2022. The province will build a number of pilot demonstration infrastructure projects and accelerate the application. Jiangsu will complete smart bus initiatives in cities including Nanjing and Suzhou, and fully realize the 5G coverage and application in important transport hubs such as the Nanjing Lukou International Airport.

Jiangsu will further use big data to improve road network, such as traffic monitoring, control of overloaded vehicles and supervision of dangerous goods, to significantly improve the governance efficiency. Jiangsu will also launch the V2X (vehicle to everything) application in Tianning District of Changzhou City and High-speed Railway New Town in Suzhou, and build an interconnected, healthy and orderly smart transportation ecosystem.

By 2025, the province will realize the deep integration of 5G, artificial intelligence, big data, Internet of things, block chain and other new generation of information technologies in various fields of transportation. Jiangsu will improve comprehensive information service capacity of passenger and freight transportation, and form a number of leading industries based on the development of automatic driving and intelligent terminals.
