Liyang of Changzhou and Truskavets in Ukraine signed an agreement to form Friendship City relationship during the opening ceremony of the 2020 China Liyang Tea Festival & the Tianmu Lake Tourism Festival on April 18.

The signing took place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Liyang Deputy Mayor Chen Feng and Truskavets Mayor Andriy Kulchinsky held a video conference to formalize the relationship.

Truskavets, a city in western Ukraine's Lviv Oblast (region) near the border with Poland, is an internationally renowned resort. During the visit to Liyang In 2017, Ponomarenko Dmytro, consul general of Ukraine in Shanghai, brought a personal letter from Andriy Kulchinsky who hoped to establish Friendship City ties, strengthening exchanges and achieving win-win results.

At last year’s edition of the Liyang festivals, the two cities signed a letter of intent to enter into Friendship City relationship. Liyang then sent representatives in two groups to Truskavets to learn about its advanced experience in rural development and special healthcare projects.

Since 1995, Liyang has eight international Friendship City connections now.
