Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Committee, visited Purple Mountain Laboratories in Nanjing on March 9, calling for more efforts to build technological innovation platforms with greater influences.

Lou inspected research initiatives about cyber safety, telecommunication and Future Internet, listened to reports about start-ups and applications of new technologies, paid tribute to researchers committed to their work during the COVID-19 epidemic, and also exchanged ideas with some experts.

Lou said Jiangsu is home to many universities and institutes, which have strong research capacity and take the lead in many fields. The province has the responsibility, resources, and capacity to contribute more to make China into a technological powerhouse. Purple Mountain Laboratories needs to align with key requirements of the country’s strategic development, expand the research platform, bring together first-class talents, and make more breakthroughs.

It’s also necessary to modernize the governance system for S&T innovation, adopt a systematic approach and open mind, increase the technological application and demonstration, deepen cooperation with universities including Southeast University, research institutes and enterprises, support each other with their own advantages and through concerted efforts, and form the favorable ecosystem for innovation.

Lou urged departments in Nanjing and the province to further create conditions, optimize the environment, and provide a strong guarantee for the development of Purple Mountain Laboratories.

Launched in August 2018, Purple Mountain Laboratories is a flagship vehicle for technological innovation in Jiangsu. It hosts fundamental and frontier researches in network communication, cyber safety, key S&T issues and challenges in industrial development.
