New Jiangsu medical team rushes to assist epidemic-hit Huangshi

Organized by Jiangsu Health Commission, a medical team of 37 people from Nantong City headed for Huangshi City, hit hard by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Hubei Province, on the morning of February 24. 

The second Jiangsu team sent to Huangshi, it is composed of professionals from critical care, respiratory, psychological and TCM medicines.     

The team was established very rapidly after receiving the request on the afternoon of February 23. By 6:00 pm on the same day, the team with 18 TCM physicians, 16 nurses and three administrative officers was finalized thanks to the support of major hospitals in Nantong. The 18 doctors have the title of associate chief physician or higher.   

 

Then at 4:00 am on February 24, the team left for the railway station in Wuxi City and took a high-speed train to arrive in Hankou City, where they were then immediately transported to Huangshi.    

The team also brought 550 ml of plasma collected from blood of recovered patients infected with COVID-19, which will be applied to the medical treatment of the coronavirus patients in critical condition.    

Jiangsu Health Commission have been in close contact and coordination with Huangshi’s work leading group for prevention and control of COVID-19.
