The year 2020 bears special significance to Jiangsu as the province will complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, achieve the goals of the 13th Five-Year Plan, and also make new progress in developing the province to be “powerful, rich, beautiful and civilized.” Party chiefs from Jiangsu’s 13 cities with district-level divisions have expressed their wishes for 2020.

Zhang Jinghua, secretary of the CPC Nanjing Committee

Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Nanjing will bear in mind the expectations, seize the opportunities of the times, play well the role of a capital city, win the "three tough battles," strengthen the weak links in order to realize the goals, achieve solid progress in building Nanjing as “a leader in innovation and a beautiful ancient capital,” make hard, pragmatic efforts to secure a victory, and turn the province “powerful, rich, beautiful and civilized.”

Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the city will comprehensively implement the decisions and arrangements by the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Jiangsu Committee and provincial government, further emancipate minds and open up to achieve higher goals, and strive to start a new journey of modernization.

Changzhou will focus efforts on education, uncompleted projects, housing, rural living environment and other key fields, adhere to the people-centered development approach, accelerate the expansion of quality educational resources, speed up the renovation of old residential communities, deepen the "healthy Changzhou" initiative, and improve rural living environment.

Nantong will make planning and build the Tongzhou Bay as a gateway to the ocean at world’s first-class level, make breakthroughs in a number of key and large manufacturing projects, promote the high-quality development of the private economy, carry out 44 specific projects to improve people’s livelihood, ensure the environment protection and air quality, turn the conservation of the Yangtze River into a role-model, strengthen efforts for work safety, and make the city vibrant, happy, beautiful and safe.

Xiang Xuelong, secretary of the CPC Lianyungang Committee

We will unite and lead 5.3 million people in the port city to be conscientious and meticulous in working, love the country and ready to help, try to make up for deficiencies, shore up points of weakness, bring the sense of gain to more people in realizing the goals, and embark on a journey to build a great modern socialist country with all-out efforts.

Based on a solid industrial foundation, the city will improve the ecological environment, strengthen social governance, and work closely with the city’s 3.19 million people to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and at a high quality.
