Suzhou New District hosted an activity to celebrate the New Year at the Hanshan Temple on December 31, attracting representatives from Japanese-funded companies in the district.
In the Yangtze River Delta, the district is known for a high concentration of Japanese investment. In last year, the district strengthened cooperation and exchange efforts, holding 5 investment promotion conferences in Japan and introducing 22 projects with a total investment of $1.6 billion. It also launched the construction for the "Suzhou Sino-Japan Innovation Valley" and reached an agreement to build a demonstration zone for green industry and innovation.
The district’s regional GDP reached 133 billion yuan and the total output of industrial enterprises above a designated size hit 313.1 billion yuan.
Mao Wei, deputy secretary of the CPC Working Committee of Suzhou New District, said that the high-tech zone will promote all-round cooperation with Japanese-funded companies in science and technology, culture and people's livelihood in the future. Efforts will also be made to improve the Japanese-style commercial street along Huaihai Road, Japanese school and supporting facilities, and build a better livable environment.
