On February 13, the cargo vessel Lady Dawn unloaded 110,000 tonnes of bauxite and manganese from Guyana at Jiangyin Port, marking the official launch of the new foreign trade route between Jiangsu and the South American country.

This is the port’s first route opened in 2025. The cargo will then be transported upstream via the Yangtze River, significantly reducing logistics costs for businesses.

Jiangyin Port has established routes with 100 ports in 21 countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. In January, the port handled a cargo volume of 44.91 million tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%, and a container throughput of 61,000 TEUs, up 15% year-on-year. The maximum draft of ships visiting the port has been increased to 12.3 meters, setting a new record since the port's opening.
