Nanjing celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei and China as well as the 10th anniversary of its sister-city relationship with Bandar Seri Begawan on December 1.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei in 1991 heralded a new chapter of friendship and cooperation between Nanjing and the country, including the sister-city tie forged in 2011. Then in 2018, witnessed by the two heads of state, Nanjing and Bandar Seri Begawan renewed the sister-city relationship, an agreement mentioned in the joint declaration of the two countries.
Han Liming, secretary of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, said efforts will be made to promote the people-to-people exchange, especially among the young people, and also strengthen the cooperation in fields of education, culture, sports, tourism and COVID-19 response.
The celebration also saw the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Nanjing Sports Federation and the Wushu Federation of Brunei, between CITS Jiangsu and Brunei-China Friendship Association, between Yuhua Foreign Language Primary School and Chung Hwa Middle School, and between Jiangsu Zhongkun Chuangjia Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Brunei-China Friendship Association.
