Wuxi City has recently introduced a slew of measures to encourage new graduates from local universities to better engage in urban development.

The "City Partner” initiative covers subsidies or incentives for house rental, entrepreneurship, metro rides, park visits, and night educational programs, and is expected to benefit more than 50,000 graduates, as announced during a collective graduation ceremony.

For example, eligible graduates from local universities can receive subsidies of up to 60,000 yuan for house rental and 300,000 yuan for home purchase if they decide to work in the city. Graduates from universities in other places can get free accommodation for 7-90 days at designated destinations. They can spend at most 2 yuan per metro trip within one year. Before July 31, graduates from local schools can visit landmarks including Yuantouzhu (Turtle Head Island), Plum Garden and Wuxi Zoo free of charge.

Furthermore, the Communist Youth League Wuxi Committee has cooperated with universities, enterprises and institutions to organize a program that aims to support student innovation and entrepreneurship.

Wuxi has 1.16 million business entities, 33 functional districts and eight science and technology-centered towns, providing various support for young people’s career development. In 2024, the city has organized 400 job fairs offering 210,000 job opportunities. Data shows that more than 105,000 university graduates found jobs in the city in 2023, an increase of 73.55% over 2019. A total of 36,730 graduates received rental subsidies, and 326 individuals received subsidies for home purchases.
