Eighteen contestants from 6 high schools entered the final round after the preliminary selection. The 3-member teams then recited and explained the poems about Meihua, plum blossom, and showed their talents too. Six contestants won the first prize and have the opportunity to visit Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province, for an 8-day study tour.
The plum blossom is the city flower of Nanjing and a symbol of independence and self-improvement. The Chinese language contest is one of the iconic activities between Jiangsu and Cork County, with the first session held in 2020.
