The foundation stone laying ceremony of Taicang Experimental School affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was held on March 23.

To be put into use in September 2021, the new school will offer a 16-year holistic education covering all segments from kindergarten to high school, enrolling both domestic and international students.

XJTLU, an international joint venture university founded by Xi’an Jiaotong University in China and the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, signed the "Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in Basic Education Reform and Innovation” with the Taicang Municipal People's Government in February last year, planning to build the new school and create a role model.

Meanwhile, the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang), co-established by the two sides, kicked off construction in April last year and is expected to be completed and put into use in 2021.

Located in the Taicang High-Tech Development Zone, the experimental school has a scheduled investment no less than 500 million yuan and will cover an area of 110,000 square meters. Upon completion, the school can host 2,580 students and about 240 teachers from at home and overseas.

The construction project was started in March this year. It is estimated that the kindergarten will be open in spring 2021, and the school will be fully put into use in September of the same year.
