Immigration departments across Jiangsu Province recorded 2.7 million border entries and exits in the first seven months of this year, surpassing the total for the entire year of 2023.

Border ports in Nanjing, Wuxi and Nantong experienced significant growth in tourist trips, thanks to the optimized border control measures and the summer travel season. In July alone, the province’s border ports recorded over 380,000 exits by Chinese citizens, marking a 64.87% increase compared to the same period last year.

In the first half of this year, Jiangsu launched nine new international air passenger routes. Currently, the major airports in Jiangsu operate 50 international (regional) regular routes, with more than 700 inbound and outbound flights weekly. The top three outbound destinations for Chinese citizens are Japan, South Korea and Thailand.

Jiangsu’s attractive natural landscapes and rich cultural resources have increasingly drawn foreign tourists. The 144-hour visa-free entry policy also boosts inbound visits. In the first seven months, border control in Nanjing recorded 303,300 international visitors, an increase of 102.7% year-on-year. This figure includes 1,308 foreigners who entered on temporary permits.
