The railway network across the Yangtze River Delta is expected to accommodate 170 million passenger trips during the summer travel rush from July 1 to August 31.
This volume represents an average of 2.8 million trips daily, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%. The delta region plans to operate about 1,341 trains per day, 30 more than the same period last year.
A notably high proportion of the travelers will be students and children during the 62-day travel period, with high-speed trains continuing to be the preferred mode of transportation. Tourist cities will be the main destinations for this summer travel.
Due to the schedules of colleges and universities, there will be a high volume of travel at the beginning and end of the season.
In recent years, railway authorities in the delta region have leveraged new lines to increase passenger capacity, and new train models with improved noise control, better amenities, and increased luggage capacity have also been introduced on popular routes to enhance travel experience.
