Yangzhou City will host diverse programs during the 5th China Zaocha Culture Festival and the Huaiyang Cuisine Festival from May 25 to 31.
Zaocha, or early breakfast tea, is a morning meal that offers delicious treats served alongside hot teas. The festivals provide rich opportunities for people to enjoy signature food and experience the unique culture that has put Yangzhou on the map.
Yangzhou, a historical and cultural city in Jiangsu Province, is renowned for its quality tea and famous dim sum dishes. For example, the Kui Long Zhu tea is a blend of three types of teas - Longjing, Kuizhen, and Zhulan- to provide unique flavors. The steamed Wu Ding Bao (or five-diced buns) is usually stuffed with sliced pork, chicken, bamboo shoots, sea cucumber, and shrimp, making them super fresh, smooth, and sweet. Zhao’s Tang Yuan is known for glutinous rice balls made in the traditional way of rolling in a bamboo tray, and they have a soft and chewy texture.
Yangzhou has made efforts to support the development of time-honored restaurants like Fuchun Tea House since it was recognized as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. The city has introduced major projects supported by COFCO and Star Chemical, aiming to make the food sector bigger, better and stronger in the market.
