The province will add about 1,000 kilometers of new railways by 2025, bringing its total railway length to 5,200 kilometers. The high-speed railway lines will reach 3,000 kilometers, accessible in all its 13 cities that have subordinate districts and about 90% of counties and county-level cities.
Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu, will be linked with the country’s main city clusters by 4-6 hours of railway travelling, one hour at most to cities in the Yangtze River Delta and 1.5 hours to other Jiangsu cities that have subordinate districts.
Jiangsu also plans to greatly improve the efficiency of passenger and freight services by 2025, by improving the railway cargo network, bullet train-based logistics services, and China-Europe foreign trains.
The province will also improve the sustainable development of railway system, add three new intercity and suburban lines, and upgrade the safety management and emergency response. Jiangsu aims to increase its rail transportation equipment sector with an industrial size of 200 billion yuan.
According to the guideline, Jiangsu plans to achieve an advanced, modern high-speed railway system available at all its counties and county-level cities by 2035.
