The Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism in Nantong City highlighted travel routes centered on Zhang Jian (1853-1926), a renowned Chinese industrialist and educator, during a promotion in Nanjing on June 2.
The famous entrepreneur has been considered one of the pioneers of China's modern industrialization. Zhang founded the Tongzhou Normal College in 1902, which was the first normal school in modern China. He also set up the Nantong Museum in 1905, the first public museum founded by Chinese.
The three travel routes featured Zhang’s great entrepreneurship, patriotism and contribution to education and public welfare undertakings. Nantong invites business leaders, youths and tourists of all ages to explore the city’s rich cultural and historical legacy.
