Taizhou City in Jiangsu Province kicked off a campaign to promote its unique delicacies and tourism destinations in Shanghai on September 16.

The "Taste of Taizhou" campaign, organized mainly by the city’s Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, will run until the end of November and host nearly 30 events in regions under its administration, such as Xinghua City, Taixing City, Jingjiang City and Gaogang District, to bring the most unforgettable travelling and dining experiences to visitors.

At the opening ceremony in Shanghai, Taizhou showcased its well-known delicacies and specialties including Qinhu Lake crab, huangqiao shaobing (baked buns) and Meilanchun liquor, as well as travel itineraries.

In mid-October, Taizhou’s foodie vans will visit communities and business streets across the Yangtze River Delta, cook food on the spot to share with visitors, and display the local specialties amid efforts to promote the city’s image as a heaven for gourmets.

Also in the plan is the chrysanthemum exhibition to be held at Qiuxue Lake. Visitors will not only have the chance to appreciate over 40 chrysanthemum species but also watch the folk performances and demonstration of intangible cultural heritage.

Xinghua will hold the crabs festival in Wujindang Wetland. Jishi Town in Jingjiang will highlight its unique rural charms with a rice festival.

Taixing’s Xuanbao Town, which enjoys a reputation for the ginkgo trees, has planned a wide range of activities including picking the ginkgo nuts, fishing competition, and photography contest.

Taixing will also promote its quality specialties during the campaign and organize a food fest at Qixiang Village, a popular tourism destination and the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in Guxi Town.

Visitors to Taixing can also consider other amazing options such as the persimmon festival in Xiqiao Village of Zhangqiao Town and the beer festival and concert in Hongqiao Town.

Huzhuang Town of Gaogang District will hold the first crabs festival and participants can also try the fun games. In the town of Yong’anzhou, the second puffer fish festival will combine the product display and science.
