Jiangsu Province has been deepening its economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN, which is China's biggest trading partner.
Jiangsu's imports and exports with ASEAN reached 492.46 billion yuan in the first seven months of this year, marking a year-on-year increase of 10.9%, according to Nanjing Customs.
On August 12, Pinnigao Sports Goods (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., one of the province’s trade enterprises, was preparing to ship 360 electric scooters to Thailand, which are designed for environment with narrow alleys and high foot traffic.
"These electric scooters are built with automotive-grade steel frames and equipped with a 2.8-inch screen for easy touch control. They are not only lightweight and convenient but also feature a longer battery life," said Yuan Di, the company's general manager.
Yuan Ting, customs manager at Suzhou Chunju Electric Co., Ltd., said the company has taken advantage of the preferential tariff policies under the China-ASEAN free trade terms. From January to July this year, it applied for 115 certificates of origin, which would help importers enjoy tariff reductions exceeding 3.9 million yuan.
Lianyungang Port reported a 46% year-on-year increase in exports of construction machinery and equipment, mainly excavators, loaders and road rollers, in the first seven months.
