Jiangsu Province exported various types of ships worth a total of 60.76 billion yuan from January to November this year, marking a 43.4% year-on-year increase, according to Nanjing Customs.
Notably, the economic powerhouse province set a historic record in ship exports in November, reaching 8.18 billion yuan.
Among the shipbuilders, Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd (NACKS) has delivered 12 vessels of various types with a total export value of $790 million, said Chen Haoyu, director of the company’s procurement department.
On December 20, a container ship with the capacity of 24,188 TEUs is under construction at a NACKS wharf.
Shipbuilding hubs in the province have seen a rise in business across sectors such as offshore equipment, luxury cruise ships, oil tankers, container ships, bulk carriers and ro-ro vessels. During the first 11 months of this year, ship exports from Taizhou, Nantong and Yangzhou cities increased by 40.4%, 134.7% and 67.4%, respectively, accounting for 37.2%, 24.2% and 13.9% of the province’s total ship export value.
