The zone includes Qingpu District of Shanghai, Wujiang District of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province and Jiashan County of Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province.
According to the 2021-2035 planning, the zone plans to make strides in the development of eco-friendly industries, establish a green and innovative industrial system, and gradually play a leading role in the delta region's high-quality integration.
By 2035, the zone will build an industrial spatial layout featuring the integration of environment protection, innovation-driven growth, and vibrant culture. Meanwhile, an effective regional industrial cooperation mechanism will be formed across the three areas in the zone.
In the zone, efforts will be made to develop new industries and business forms related to the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), AI, 5G and Big Data, and to accelerate the development of next-generation information technology in order to become a pioneering space for digital transformation.
The zone will also focus on developing sectors such as intelligent manufacturing, new energy and new materials, as well as applying green technologies. Priority will be given to the development of high-end service industries, such as modern trade and logistics, green finance and cultural creativity. Furthermore, the zone will promote culture and tourism, sports, healthcare, education, and green agriculture in accordance with the local conditions.
According to the planning, the demonstration zone will actively connect with top pro-innovation resources worldwide, becoming a home to regional headquarters, R&D facilities and functional centers of large enterprises while supporting the free flow of elements for innovation initiatives.
