As home appliance manufacturer BSH Hausgeräte GmbH announced its fiscal year 2022 results on March 29, the BSH China New R&D Center in Nanjing opened its doors to showcase active efforts in meeting and leading consumer trends.
Located at the Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the center is the largest for BSH Home Appliances and boasts the most advanced laboratory equipment, as well as extensive research of products.
One of the labs in the center demonstrated how to use the oxygen air wash function of an advanced washer to clean a silk quilt. The fine oxygenated mist in the washer can effectively remove odors from fabrics, even dry clean-only items, without using water or detergent.
The center's kitchen appliances zone highlighted the ovens with sous-vide functionality, which ensures that a steak can be perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. The sous-vide cooking technique can protect ingredients and reduce the possibility of oxidation. To address the difficulty of determining whether a cake is fully baked or meat is fully cooked, the center has developed an oven equipped with artificial intelligence and other leading features, such as the 4D hot-air to distribute heat evenly around the cooking compartment, avoiding the trouble of turning and spinning in baking or roasting.
"Our main focus is to understand the local needs in the market, and to develop and produce home appliances that can meet the wishes of consumers and improve the quality of life in their homes. For us, market proximity and international growth go hand in hand," said CEO Dr. Matthias Metz.
"The Chinese market has always been one of the group's most important markets globally," said Dr. Alexander Dony, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer. He added that BSH improved the speed to market in 2022 and is confident in the future development of the Chinese market amid the economic recovery and consumption upgrading.
