The amount of 5G base stations across Jiangsu had reached 185,000 by the end of October, accounting for 25.2% of the total number of base stations for mobile phone networks, according to Jiangsu Provincial Communications Administration.

The province has 34.6 million 5G subscribers, 32.9% of the total number of mobile phone users, and 227 million IoT terminal users, second highest in China.

Jiangsu took the national lead in digital infrastructure development and ranked second in terms of total number base stations in cellular telephone networks, 4G base stations, and 5G base stations, respectively.

The province also had 76.45 million fixed broadband internet users, second highest in China, and this included 71.35 million fiber broadband users and 1.19 million users of 10G PON.

Amid accelerated digital transformation of industries, the basic telecommunications operators signed 5,056 5G application projects. Among the newly added 2,671 projects this year, 902 were related to smart city initiatives and 835 were about 5G+industrial Internet.
