In the first ten months of this year, Suzhou City's foreign trade climbed 6.3% year on year to more than 2.169 trillion yuan, ranking fourth among the country's top foreign trade hubs.

Exports rose 9.1% year on year to 1.3 trillion yuan, while imports increased 2.2% from a year ago to about 869 billion yuan.

During the period, Suzhou's exports and imports with United States, ASEAN and the European Union reached 313.82 billion yuan, 313 billion yuan and 306.89 billion yuan, respectively, up 6.6%, 8.4% and 7%.

Suzhou's exports to the United States, its biggest trade partner, increased 6.3% year on year to 272.66 billion yuan in the ten months, or 21% of Suzhou's total exports. During the same period, the city's imports from South Korea and China's Taiwan amounted to 173.74 billion yuan and 173.41 billion yuan, up 6% and 3.5% respectively.
