From January to September, completed investment in key water conservancy projects reached 10.2 billion yuan in Jiangsu Province, 75.5% of the plan.
This included the Phase II channel of Huaihe River that started construction on July 30. Investment into the project had reached 102 million yuan by the end of September with more than 200 people and 100 construction machineries per day involved in the project.
Renovation of the Jiangsu section of Wusong River, listed as key state project, had completed investment of 350 million yuan, or 70% of the total.
The project to manage the sunken areas in the Huaihe River basin plain completed an annual investment of 1.08 billion yuan, 90% of the plan. In addition, more than 1.77 billion yuan had been spent to renovate smaller rivers, which involved waterways with a total length of 335 kilometers.
Jiangsu has also accelerated efforts for ecological renovation and reinforcement of water gates.
