Representatives from the Chinese embassies in Indonesia and Tanzania, overseas industrial parks and legal service centers established by the province, and the Jiangsu Lawyers Association exchanged ideas in the meeting that aimed to promote the high-quality development of such industrial parks.
Jiangsu has built 3 overseas industrial parks recognized at the national level and four provincial-level overseas zones for economy and trade cooperation. In July 2019, the province opened a legal service center in the China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Zone.
The centre has helped solve specific problems faced in investment and enhanced the legal risks management, said Zou Yonggang, general manager of Jiangsu Overseas Cooperation and Investment Company (JOCIC), the main investor and operator of the park.
The industrial park has signed deals for 12 projects in the fields of tyre manufacturing, renewable energy, fine chemicals and petroleum engineering equipment. All workshops built in the park so far have been leased out to tenants.
As the first province in China to establish overseas legal service centers, Jiansu now boasts 16 such centers located in 15 countries, which form a strong network to cover main legal issues in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Up to now, the province has 762 lawyers who master foreign languages in offering legal services and 45 of them have also been recognized in a talent pool at the national level. Four of these lawyers are included in another national talent pool specially for BRI cross-border cases.
