Taicang Port in the city of Suzhou opened two new container shipping routes to Southeast Asia on April 15, bringing the total number of routes to the region to four.
The weekly service by two vessels links Taicang with Haiphong and Ho Chi Minh cities in Vietnam.
Taicang Port, which runs 217 shipping routes, saw container throughput of 1.782 million TEUs in the first quarter, up 18.4% year on year. This included 976,000 TEUs for foreign trade, a year-on-year increase of 23.5%.
