The 10th Sino-German Agricultural Week kicks off in Yancheng

10th Sino-German Agricultural Week kicked off in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province on October 21.

The flagship agricultural cooperation project between the two countries is themed "10 years of Sino-German Agriculture Cooperation, Joint Solutions for a Sustainable Future" for this edition.

The event features a series of activities, such as technical training and field visits. Experts, scholars, and representatives from business associations and companies will have in-depth discussions on sustainable agricultural development.

Xia Xinmin, vice-governor of Jiangsu, said that Germany is Jiangsu's largest trading partner in Europe, with strong momentum in agricultural cooperation between the two sides. He hopes that this event will help deepen cooperation in the agricultural sector and promote exchanges aimed at advancing precision, smart, digital and eco-friendly agriculture. Xia also emphasized the need to expand collaboration in agricultural machinery and advanced processing.

Li Jinghui, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, highlighted the achievements made over the past decade since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Germany. This included the continuous improvement of the agricultural cooperation mechanism, steady trade collaboration, and fruitful scientific partnerships. Notably, the Sino-German Agricultural Center has become an influential platform for pragmatic agricultural cooperation between China and Europe.

At the opening ceremony, Silvia Bender, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, stated that Germany and China have always maintained close cooperation in the agricultural field, and many of China's agricultural innovations are worth learning from. She stressed that the global challenges facing agricultural development today require joint efforts from both nations to create more opportunities for sustainable agriculture.

Patricia Flor, German Ambassador to China, expressed that the event aims to stimulate innovation in both countries and better promote agricultural cooperation. She also called for combining efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices, which benefit not only the two countries but also the global development.

In welcoming the guests, Wu Wei, deputy secretary of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Committee, remarked that Germany is one of Yancheng's most important trading partners in Europe, with many renowned German enterprises present in the city. He hopes this event will help accelerate Sino-German agricultural investment and trade, share technological innovations and resources to boost product quality and environmental performance, and deepen cooperation in technology, industry, and branding.
