China Greece Cultural Media Group hosted the “Tea for Harmony Yaji Cultural Salon” in Athens in May, attracting nearly 100 representatives from all walks of life in Greece to learn about traditional Chinese tea culture and also experience the classical oriental aesthetics spanning thousands of years.
A key figure in organizing this activity is Wang Peng, the editor-in-chief of the group’s media outlet, China Greece Times. Since establishing the publication in 2005, Wang has been dedicated to inheriting and promoting the splendid history and culture of China, while ensuring China’s voice is heard globally. The group has successfully organized three large-scale cultural events this year, earning appreciation from government officials and the public alike.
Born in Nanjing in 1979, Wang acknowledges many differences between Chinese and Western cultures. However, he believes that people share a common pursuit of wisdom, a good life and development. Through his study of Greek culture, Wang has gained a fresh perspective on his Chinese roots and drawn inspiration from Greek civilization in contributing to cultural exchanges between Greece and China.
Wang hopes that both the government and private sector in Jiangsu can increase their presence in Greece with more promotional activities. For civilizations to appreciate and learn from each other, it’s important to have a solid foundation of mutual understanding, according to Wang.
Wang said he feels honored to be invited to the Jiangsu Development Conference and also eager to contribute to the development of his hometown after realizing that Jiangsu attaches great importance to global connections.
"Jiangsu has a long history, rich culture, with talented individuals, civilized lifestyle, and beautiful landscapes throughout the province. While at the birthplace of Western civilization, alongside the beautiful Aegean Sea, I sincerely wish the 3rd Jiangsu Development Conference great success," Wang said.
