Nanjing held a press conference on March 9 to shed light on the city's plan to build a higher level of public service system for the fitness-for-all program.

Through building new ones or renovating the existing ones, Nanjing in 2023 plans to add five sports parks, 100 kilometers of fitness trails, 15 public gyms, and 40 sportsgrounds illuminated at night. By 2025, the per capita sports area in Nanjing will reach 4.2 square meters.

Nanjing also requires new neighborhoods to guarantee the provision of public fitness facilities, indoor or outdoor, according to specified standards.

In addition, Nanjing aims to build more public fitness facilities in countryside, including the integrated use of parks, public space, and fitness trails.

In 2022, Nanjing built 8 sports parks, 50 sportsgrounds illuminated at night, 107 km of fitness trails, and 20 gyms. The per capita sports venue area reached 3.9 square meters, ranking first in Jiangsu.
