Nanjing Massacre survivor passes away at 94

Xiang Yuansong, a Nanjing Massacre survivor, passed away on December 5 at the age of 94, according to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders.

Xiang's death reduced the total number of registered survivors to 54.

Xiang lost family members during the massacre that took place after Japanese troops captured the city on December 13, 1937. His older brother Xiang Yuangao was captured from home by Japanese soldiers and imprisoned in a coal warehouse at a port, where he was later shot and burnt with other victims. His fourth uncle, Xiang Zhonglin, was also brutally killed. Xiang survived by hiding with his parents in the Baota Bridge refugee area.
