Professor Florin Stanica, also Vice-Rector of University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, said he hopes to make more contribution to the development of Suzhou following years of pleasant cooperation.
Professor Florin first entered into cooperation with Jiangsu Alibaba Agriculture Technology, based in Changshu City, in 2013 thanks to Wang Jianzu, founder of Suzhou China-Europe Technology Transfer and former counsellor for S&T affairs sent by the Ministry of Science and Technology to Romania. The cooperation later led to the introduction of seedlings of a sweet EU cherry variety, worth 70 million Euro, to Suzhou.
Then in last year, Florin signed an agreement with the Changshu Institute of Technology to carry out international cooperation and technical exchanges in fruit tree genetic resources, development, new cultivar breeding, nursery, cultivation technology and standardization amid efforts to introduce more fruit tree cultivars to grow in China.
"China and Romania have a long friendship and I hope to cultivate more talented people for Suzhou. I will also do more research with my Chinese partners to contribute to the development of agriculture in Romania and China," said Florin.
He also said Suzhou is like the Venice in Italy with many great people and every visit to city in the past seven years is a beautiful journey. Suzhou is also like a garden with impressive charm, and it’s happy to witness the great changes in the vibrant city.
“I love this city, and I hope our joint efforts can make Suzhou better and better,” said Florin.
