In non-private sectors, the average salary of urban employees rose to 96,527 yuan in 2019, and 98,669 yuan for the on-post, according to data from the Jiangsu Bureau of Statistics on June 15.
In private sectors, the annual average salary stood at 58,322 yuan.
The data covered all non-private employers in urban areas, including those of state-owned, collective-owned, joint-ownership and joint-stock, as well as enterprises with foreign investment or investment from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
The data only reveals wage information of workers serving an employing entity and doesn’t reflect those self-employed or freelancers, said an official from the bureau.
