The grand finale of the “An Encounter with Chinese Culture: Jiangsu Week of Chinese Folk Music” took place on September 21 at the Hercules Hall in Munich, where over 1,400 audience members experienced an unforgettable evening with the concert "Eternal Jiangnan."
Following three encores and thunderous applause, the performance captivated all, leaving many attendees reluctant to leave their seats.
The two-hour show featured mesmerizing traditional Chinese music, prompting audience reactions such as, “It was spectacular!” and “Chinese folk music is so enchanting! I hope to visit China to hear more.” The artists responded to the audience’s enthusiasm with heartfelt encores, solidifying the connection made through music.
German audience members shared their impressions. Klaus Ladinser from the German-Chinese Friendship Association expressed, “Today’s performance was a fresh experience for me; I encountered many instruments for the first time, and their sounds were truly beautiful.” Philipp Schoeller added, “This concert left a profound impression on me. It represents the fusion of Asian and European musical cultures. By the end, I was nearly moved to tears by the beautiful music.”
Violinist Ulrich Edelmann emphasized the importance of music as a universal language. “Music speaks for itself; it’s a language that doesn’t need translation. It’s about feeling rather than just hearing. Promoting exchanges between different cultures, such as Chinese and German, and witnessing their perfect integration is incredibly significant—it’s a lifelong pursuit for us.”
