This selection includes five One-Star restaurants: Dai Yuet Heen and Jiangnan Work Yun in Nanjing, Dingshan Jiangyan (Xiangcheng) and Pingjiangsong in Suzhou, and Shang Palace in Yangzhou.

The guide also recognized 36 Bib Gourmand recipients, with 16 in Nanjing, 13 in Suzhou and 7 in Yangzhou, alongside 33 Michelin-selected restaurants. The guide highlights the vibrant local street food scene that feature specialties, such as wontons, traditional pastries, fish noodles, duck blood vermicelli soup, and soup dumplings.

Originally published in 1900, the first Michelin Guide aimed to assist motorists in planning their journeys, thereby boosting sales of cars and tyres. It provided practical information, such as maps, instructions on changing a tyre, and locations of petrol stations.

Over the past century, the Michelin Guide has evolved into a globally recognized benchmark for fine dining. Michelin inspectors have anonymously reviewed hundreds of thousands of restaurants, establishing the guide as the gold standard in the international culinary scene.

The Michelin Guide offers several distinctions, including its star system that evaluate the quality of their cuisine and service. The Bib Gourmand category acknowledges restaurants that offer affordable, high-quality meals, often showcasing regional specialties and street foods.
