More than 300 registered museums across Jiangsu Province received approximately 4 million visitors during the May Day holiday, marking a 16.2% increase year-on-year.

For the holiday, museums introduced new exhibitions presented in various forms, enabling visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the culture across diverse fields.

Wang Bo, a member of the Chinese Museums Association, commented that collections are fundamental to a museum, and the in-depth research on collections is essential for enhancing the popularity and quality of exhibitions, public education and cultural and creative products. He described the May Day holiday as a testing ground for museums, where a city’s unique culture can be best showcased through careful consideration of exhibition topics and interactions, while blending traditional culture with modern aesthetics.

Museums also leveraged digital technologies to enhance the visitor experiences. Notably, virtual reality was used to restore fossils and animal specimens, allowing visitors for an up-close look.
