A new book on the most beautiful landmarks along the Jiangsu section of the Grand Canal was launched in Nanjing on November 8.

The book consists of two parts: the "Search for the heritage of the Grand Canal in Jiangsu" and the introduction of 40 landmarks about the ancient waterway system in the coastal province.

The book tells the historical and cultural stories of the heritage sites along the canal and helps readers better understand and appreciate the significant transportation artery in ancient China.

The landmarks named in the book were chosen after several steps including a voting online, expert review and recognition by relevant departments. They are the best destinations to get a glimpse of the canal’s history and culture.
