Jiangsu is set to launch more than 260 promotional events highlighting the province’s intangible cultural heritage in celebration of Cultural and Natural Heritage Day which falls on June 13.
Over 70 percent of the activities will be held online. The most anticipated will be the first intangible cultural heritage shopping festival supported by eight major e-commerce platforms including Alibaba, JD.com, and Suning. More than 300 projects and enterprises in the province have applied to enrich the product catalog.
According to the Jiangsu Department of Culture and Tourism, from June 13 to 20, there will be mini open classes teaching how to cook food listed as intangible cultural heritage, play traditional sports, and do daily self-care with traditional Chinese medicine.
The Jiangsu Catering Industry Association will jointly collect intangible cultural heritage items about catering and release the first discoveries on June 13 in the form of a digital food map.
More than 6 million visitors are expected to participate in the events.
