Shuyang County in Jiangsu Province opened a shuttle service on June 27 to connect directly with the high-speed railway station in Suqian City, the first of its kind in China.
The nearly 90-minute trip allowed 16 passengers from Shuyang to board the high-speed train in the quickest way.
The province has built a railway network with all its 13 cities that have subordinate cities as well as 75% of counties and county-level cities linked by bullet trains. However, there are still a number of counties without such convenient connection including Shuyang. The county has a population of 2 million and nearly 250,000 non-local people, so the need for faster transportation option is huge.
The transportation authorities in the county have opened 12 daily services to Suqian, 10 services to Huai’an, and 6 services to Siyang.
