It has been over one month since the Lianyungang-Huai’an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang High-speed Railway fully opened on December 11. The Yangzhou East Railway Station received 168,840 passengers in the month, with 5,446 passengers a day on average.
The station handled over 10,000 passengers a day for twice, on January 1 and 3, in one month, with the record high of 11,174 passengers on the first day of the New Year.
In the first week of operation, tickets for the Yangzhou-Shanghai bullet trains from Friday to Sunday were often sold out on Thursday, including first-class and business seats, according to a staff of the station. Trains to directions of Ningbo, Xuzhou and Lianyungang are also crowded.
