In the first ten months of this year, Nanjing Customs issued 101,800 certificates of origin under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) free trade agreement for exports valued at 28.519 billion yuan, ranking first in the country.
Under RCEP, enterprises in Jiangsu Province recorded imports totaling 18.496 billion yuan with tariff reductions amounting to 429 million yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 21.64% and 33.16%, respectively.
On November 18, Jiangyin Customs House issued an RCEP certificate of origin for two scrap metal shredding and sorting systems produced by Jiangsu Huahong Technology Co., Ltd., valued at about 9.72 million yuan. This certificate is expected to allow the South Korean importer to enjoy zero tariffs.
On November 19, Yancheng Youchuang Food Co., Ltd. applied for an RCEP certificate of origin for 1,450 boxes of dehydrated vegetables to be exported to Japan. The tariff rate for this shipment, valued at 103,500 yuan, has dropped from 9% to 6.8% as Japan implemented the fourth round of tariff cuts under RCEP on April 1.
The import tariff rate for clothing products in Japan will drop by 0.5 to 1 percentage points annually, creating new opportunities for exporters targeting the Japanese market, such as Wuxi Richang Garments Co., Ltd. In the first ten months of the year, the company applied for 508 RCEP certificates of origin for exports worth $9.07 million.
