Nanjing held a meeting on November 2 to launch meteorological observation experiments for low-altitude airspace, alongside a related seminar.

The Nanjing Meteorological Bureau has cooperated with multiple organizations to initiate this groundbreaking project, aiming to establish operational standards for low-altitude flight and develop more precise forecasting technologies.

In May, Nanjing hosted the Low-Altitude Economy Development Conference, officially unveiling the 2024-2026 implementation plan for promoting the sector’s high-quality development. The city plans to establish a network of observation stations and provide a more targeted system for microclimate analysis and weather forecasting.

On November 1, the city convened another meeting to further advance the low-altitude economic development.

The launch meeting inaugurated Nanjing Low-Altitude Meteorological Science and Technology Innovation Base, which will serve as a key platform for low-altitude meteorological services in the city.

Meanwhile, the bureau officially launched a low-altitude flight meteorological support platform after over two months of trial operations. The platform offers daily to minute-level forecasts within a two-week period, with horizontal resolutions ranging from 2.5 km to 500 meters and vertical resolutions from 1 km to 50 meters.

According to the plan, Nanjing will also conduct drone flights to collect meteorological data across the Yangtze River, providing scientific insights for low-altitude economic infrastructure planning.
