In the first three quarters of this year, Jiangsu’s foreign trade in goods grew by 7.7% year-on-year to 4.12 trillion yuan, setting a record high for the same period and accounting for 12.8% of the national total, according to Nanjing Customs.
This included exports of 2.65 trillion yuan, up 7.8%, and imports of 1.47 trillion yuan, up 7.5%.
In Jiangsu, general trade reached 2.37 trillion yuan, marking a 6% year-on-year growth and a share of 57.4% of the total. Processing trade rose by 11.3% to 1.3 trillion yuan, or 31.6% of the total. Bonded warehouse trade amounted to 418.74 billion yuan, growing 8.4% year-on-year and making up 10.2% of the total.
Private enterprises in Jiangsu recorded imports and exports of 1.85 trillion yuan, a 10.5% year-on-year increase, accounting for 45% of the province’s total trade - 1.2 percentage points higher than the same period last year.
Meanwhile, foreign-invested enterprises and state-owned enterprises achieved foreign trade of 1.94 trillion yuan and 324.12 billion yuan, respectively, representing 47.2% and 7.9% of the total.
Jiangsu’s trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative increased by 11.3% year-on-year to 1.82 trillion yuan. This represented 44.1% of the total trade value, 1.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Among them, trade with ASEAN countries and South Korea reached 646.8 billion yuan and 416.51 billion yuan, respectively, up 10.4% and 13.2% year-on-year.
The province exported 1.81 trillion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products, up 9.4% year-on-year, accounting for 68.5% of the province’s total exports. Notably, mobile phone and ship exports surged by 35.5% and 74.3% year-on-year, respectively.
