By the end of November, Jiangsu had established 235,000 5G base stations with both 5G mobile phone users and 5G data traffic accounting nearly half of the total in their respective categories, according to the Jiangsu Communications Administration on December 25.
The coastal province has taken a national lead in building its digital infrastructure capacity. As of the end of November, the province had 781,000 mobile base stations, ranking second in China, and the number of 5G base stations also was the second highest nationwide.
Among Jiangsu’s 110 million mobile phone users, more than 51.37 million were 5G phone users in November, representing 46.5% of the total, a figure 1.1 percentage points higher from October.
Additionally, Jiangsu has experienced flourishing 5G applications, with 9,277 projects signed with three telecom operators (China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom) by the end of November. This marked an increase of 3,654 projects this year, including 1,449 "5G + Industrial Internet" projects.
The province has also made progress in expanding its gigabit optical network, maintaining the top position in the country.
