Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and governor Xu Kunlin met with the delegation led by Wang Dongjin, chairman of China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) in Nanjing on September 25.
Wu hailed the province’s close cooperation with CNOOC, the largest offshore oil and gas production operator in China. Calling Jiangsu an economic powerhouse and a large energy consumer with comparatively less energy resources, Wu said he hopes the two sides can deepen cooperation in fields of energy security, green shipping, green energy industry development, transformation of traditional industries and low-carbon development through large-scale initiatives and more projects.
It's necessary to further implement the agreement on comprehensive strategic cooperation and make new and greater contributions to achieving the "dual carbon" goals and serving the country’s overall development, said Wu.
In the meeting, Wang said that CNOOC will continue to increase its investment in Jiangsu, ensure energy supply to the province and progress of efforts associated with comprehensive energy development and utilization.
The company is committed to contributing more to the carbon emissions peaking and carbon neutrality goals as well as the high-quality development of Jiangsu, according to Wang.
