The Suzhou area of the Jiangsu Pilot Free Trade Zone, centered on the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), has been recognized as the first and only hub of foreign-funded companies' regional headquarters in Jiangsu Province.
The SIP, a flagship project between China and Singapore, has achieved rapid development since its establishment 27 years ago. Known for a solid industrial foundation and favorable business environment, the park is now home to the regional headquarters and main facilities of many multinational companies.
In 2021, SIP was enlisted as one of the first batch of China-Japan-Korea (Jiangsu) Industrial Cooperation Demonstration Parks. It became the shared home of provincial-level regional headquarters of six foreign-invested firms, city-level offices of 21 foreign-invested firms, and top R&D centers by many foreign enterprises.
Data showed a total of 97 enterprises have opened their regional headquarters or offices in the park, and these companies are mainly specialized in electronic information, high-end equipment manufacturing, biomedicine and modern service industries. More than 100 enterprises are expected to meet the requirements for recognition of regional headquarter in the next three years.
In last year, the park attracted and incubated nearly ten foreign-funded companies that are likely to upgrade their local facilities as regional headquarters or research centers, such as Peijia Medical Limited, BorgWarner and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
