Jiangsu, China's major export-oriented economic powerhouse, has recognized 13 overseas warehouses operated by enterprises as “provincial-level public warehouse” in 2021 amid efforts to inject fresh momentum into foreign trade, according to the province’s Department of Commerce.

The recognition means overseas trade infrastructure invested or operated by the province’s enterprises can provide customs clearance, storage, logistics, marketing, exhibition, refund/exchange and after-sale services for importers, exporters and cross-border e-commerce enterprises. Such facilities can play an active role in developing international markets, driving import and export, and also giving a boost to branding.

Commerce authorities in the province’s cities will increase support and coordination to help address difficulties arising from the construction of such overseas warehouses. The best practices will be shared in a timely manner so as to improve the functions and services of such facilities.

Meanwhile, the Department of Commerce will also cooperate with other departments to strengthen the comprehensive evaluation of public overseas warehouses, including the revocation of the recognition if a warehouse is found to make false statements or be in serious breach of trust, rules and laws.
