Kunshan, a county-level city under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Suzhou, hosted its first Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Conference on September 28.
Nearly 500 overseas Chinese entrepreneurs attended the event that also saw the signing of agreement for 38 projects with a total investment of 15.5 billion yuan. Kunshan also unveiled the talent service unit and industrial bases established by overseas Chinese whose hometown is the city. Meanwhile, the event also commended trailblazing business leaders in entrepreneurship and innovation as well as outstanding companies.
In recent years, Kunshan has taken advantage of the major development strategies including the Belt and Road Initiative, the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the Yangtze River Economic Belt to realize new growth. The city has rallied wide support from overseas Chinese community and made efforts to turn itself into a S&T innovation and investment hub, pioneer work related to overseas Chinese, and become a role model in safeguarding rights and interest of overseas Chinese.
At present, there are more than 7,000 overseas Chinese and students in Kunming, which also has over 2,700 enterprises invested by overseas Chinese.
