As a revised law on the prevention and control of environmental pollution by solid waste took effect on September 1, Jiangsu Center for International Cooperation in Environmental Economics and Technology has hosted a seminar in Suzhou to help enterprises understand the law and share experience in waste reduction.

Nearly 50 companies participated the event and exchanged latest practices of solid waste disposal and reduction.

Wu Bei, general manager of business development at Kimberly Clark (China), said industrial cleaning clothes often used in factories can cause grate harm to the environment without proper treatment. The wiper clothes developed by Kimberly Clark can help reduce the disposal work by 78 percent and storage space by 68 percent compared with industrial cleaning clothes. Following the presentation, a local Suzhou company invited Kimberly Clark for a visit and provide a solution for improvement.

Shell (China) Limited also shared its experience in hazardous waste disposal technology and waste reduction solutions, while Sino-Singapore SUEZ Environmental Protection Technology (Suzhou) Company Limited also introduced solid waste comprehensive disposal.

Wang Hua, Director of the Foreign Cooperation Office of the Jiangsu Department of Ecology and Environment, said that enterprises shoulder a main responsibility for ecological and environmental protection and in the future more seminars will be held to promote exchanges.
