Two 65,000-ton bulk carriers, newly built by the New Times Shipbuilding in Jingjiang City of Jiangsu Province, were launched into the river on March 25, bringing the total number of vessels to five in March.
The company has delivered six vessels and will increase the number to 28 this year.
On March 13, the shipbuilder delivered a 325,000-ton super large ore carrier, which is 340 meters long, 62 meters wide and 62.5 meters above the water surface. It has a deck area bigger than two standard football fields and is the largest ship led by the Pilotage Center of the Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration this year.
Yangzijiang Ship Building Group, also based in Jingjiang, has recently secured a giant $1.15 billion order, the largest for the company, for up to ten dual-fuel containerships with a capacity of 14,000 TEU each. These ships are scheduled to be delivered by mid-2022. This order has also made Yangzijiang the first private shipbuilding enterprise in China to be capable of building large LNG-powered large container ships.
