Nearly 120 participants attended an exchange meeting between EU companies and Jiangsu government departments, organized by the Nanjing Chapter of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, on January 9.
The meeting aimed to build a platform for communication and exchange between two sides, optimize the regional business environment, and support Jiangsu’s pursuing of high-quality development.
Representatives from over 70 EU companies held talks with officials from many governmental agencies, such as commerce, ecology and environment, industry and information technology, foreign affairs office and taxation bureau.
Jörg Wuttke, president of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, said the Belt and Road initiative shows China’s commitment to greater opening-up and the Foreign Investment Law, which took effect on January 1, also means foreign companies in China will enjoy the broader development space and better opportunities.
Sun Jin, deputy director of Jiangsu Department of Commerce, said Jiangsu means immense development opportunities as it continues to adjust economic structure, promote opening-up and innovation, and optimize business environment.
“The technology of EU companies, the capabilities of Jiangsu's manufacturing industry, and China's huge market will definitely give wings to enterprises in their development," said Sun.
